"What is a supermarket themed hotel anyway?" This is probably the question asked by many who visit our food-hotel website for the first time. And rightly so. Because our hotel concept is unique. We'd be happy to explain how it came about and what all goes into it.
It all began at the food academy in Neuwied. It was and is the only trade school for the German food trade. And has been for over 85 years. The academy's teachers qualify specialists and managers for their work in various sales locations. They train students to become retail specialists or retail business econom ists. Thanks to cooperation with universities and international academies, students at the food akademie can even complete bachelor's and master's degrees.
The solution is often closer than you think
Bold implementation of an ingenious idea
At some point, those responsible at the food academy asked themselves where they could best accommodate their more than 1,300 junior staff. Then came the simple but clever idea: Why not just build a hotel next door? One that is modern and comfortable. With well-equipped conference rooms. With fantastic cuisine. And with that certain something.
No sooner said than done. The ambitious project was realized and in 2010 the new and unique food hotel saw the light of day. With everything that young people need. A restaurant with delicious, sustainably prepared dishes. A cool bar with foosball, DAZN broadcasting sports events and delicious drinks. And that certain something? That was provided by an obvious yet ingenious interior design concept. The food hotel became a supermarket-themed hotel.
No half measures
Supermarket from the lobby to the sauna
The unique concept accompanies you today through the entire hotel. From the hotel lobby to the staircase and the restaurants to the wellness area. The absolute highlight in the food hotel are the 46 elaborately designed supermarket-themed rooms. Numerous partners from the food industry furnished the rooms creatively, comfortably, richly detailed and a little extravagant. Früh Kölsch, Rundschau, Raffaello, Fairtrade, Coca-Cola, Chio Chips and many more gave free rein to their imagination - with impressive results.
You will find supermarket-style furniture, pictures, decorations and furnishings everywhere in the food hotel. At the entrance and in the staircase. In the rooms and restaurants. Even the sauna was literally designed as an oven. And during your visit, every now and then you'll encounter a small shopping cart. Sometimes filled with small treats, sometimes with business cards. In the food hotel, everything simply fits together. The supermarket concept is unusual and at the same time harmonious. You enjoy the feel-good character and are always delighted by the little details that can be discovered on every floor and in every room in the food hotel.

The Food Hotel is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Rhine, Moselle and Lahn. It is also centrally located for tours to Bonn and Cologne. In this respect, it is just as suitable for business travelers as for vacationers.

The Food Hotel is a modern business hotel, where almost exclusively business travelers are accommodated during the week. The location is very good due to the proximity to the center, and the train station is also in the immediate vicinity. The rooms are modern and functionally furnished.
