Almost 15 years ago, the municipal project "Edible City of Andernach" was launched in Andernach. In order to make the urban green spaces more tangible again, they were converted and redesigned into fruit and vegetable beds and wildflower meadows. A variety of flora and fauna can now be found in the city's green spaces. From tomatoes, beans, lettuce and zucchini to fruit trees, herbs and almonds, all kinds of useful plants grow and thrive here. The rule here is: picking allowed instead of trespassing! Even bees, chickens and sheep live in this natural habitat.
This project supports and promotes sustainability, biodiversity and urban agriculture. The green spaces are accessible to all and are intended to motivate citizens to take care of the habitat in their own city.

The bath is old. Much older than the historic town hall itself. It was part of the Andernach synagogue at that time. In the middle of the 12th century. In 1297, the synagogue no longer existed. But the mikvah is today as it was then. Its water level still rises and falls with the level of the Rhine. The town hall can be visited only during guided tours of the city. It is only a stone's throw away from the food hotel. A visit is worthwhile. You will be impressed. You don't see something like this every day.
