The geyser Andernach and tourism
In 1903, a 343-meter-deep hole was drilled on the Namedy Peninsula to extract carbon dioxide. A mineral water was to be produced. In the process, the Andernach geyser awoke for the first time. The carbon dioxide pushed the water powerfully to the surface. It shot up almost 40 meters. The fountain was called the "Namedyer Sprudel". The same name also adorned the bottled mineral water.
In 2006, the Andernach geyser was opened up for tourism. After a long back and forth. Two years later, it was officially entered in the Guinness Book of World Records. As the highest cold water geyser on earth. Since then, thousands of visitors have come to see it every year. The geyser erupts every two hours. One eruption lasts about eight minutes. The Geysir Andernach is at the top of the list of nature experiences in and around Neuwied. You can reach the geyser center from the food hotel in different ways. By car you drive about 30 minutes via the B296 and the B9. You can also walk along the Rhine promenade. We recommend the walk to the ferry dock in Leutesdorf. The daily ferry ride to Andernach is pleasant. This way you can quickly get from food hotel Neuwied to the Geysir center.

The Food Hotel is a modern business hotel, where almost exclusively business travelers are accommodated during the week. The location is very good due to the proximity to the center, and the train station is also in the immediate vicinity. The rooms are modern and functionally furnished.
