Castles and palaces are always surrounded by something special. Something mystical. You can find them all around the food hotel. Imposing manor houses. Mysterious ruins. Pompous castle gardens. Impressive witnesses of the time, which want to be visited, looked at and marveled at by you.
It looks like a pretty yellow flower. The Neuwied Castle is the eye-catcher on the banks of the Rhine. It is the former residence of the counts and princes of Wied. Built in the austere style of Rhenish-Nassau classicism. The castle is only a few streets away from the food hotel.
The most beautiful part is behind the castle. The lush castle park. A large part of it is open to the public. Unfortunately, the castle and the castle grounds are not. From the dike on the Rhine and from the street, however, the exterior view is worth at least a look.
Castle Altwied
A ruin as a sign of peace
It is enthroned on a narrow rocky ridge. The Altwied Castle. The Wied River flows around it on three sides. A sturdy keep. From the 12th century. The castle was a sign of peace. It was never fought over. It was never conquered or destroyed. Nevertheless, it fell into disrepair. The last lords of the castle left it in 1690 and now it is a fascinating ruin. A visit is worthwhile in any case.
Sayn Castle
Like the phoenix from the ashes
In old splendor shines the Sayn Castle. Towards the end of the Second World War, the neo-Gothic castle was destroyed. In the 60s the restoration began. Now it is a museum. It was established by Prince Alexander and Princess Gabriela. It shows the past of the noble family.
Hammerstein Castle
One of the oldest castles on the Middle Rhine
Visible from afar. It stands high above the vineyards. On the summit of the Hammersteiner Ley. The castle ruin Hammerstein. Over time, it has fallen into disrepair. Nevertheless, it is an impressive structure. It is considered one of the oldest castles on the Middle Rhine. Only a piece of its ring wall is still standing. The remains of the old customs tower. Everything else has been reclaimed by nature. A beautiful resting place has been created.

The Food Hotel is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Rhine, Moselle and Lahn. It is also centrally located for tours to Bonn and Cologne. In this respect, it is just as suitable for business travelers as for vacationers.

The Food Hotel is a modern business hotel, where almost exclusively business travelers are accommodated during the week. The location is very good due to the proximity to the center, and the train station is also in the immediate vicinity. The rooms are modern and functionally furnished.
